Christmas picture post

Happy new year folks, it's been a few days since I have posted as I have been up to all sorts of festive business.

I made my Dad some plant labels for Christmas out of some old spoons I thrifted from the car boot.  I hammered them out flat (at the expense of a couple of whacks to my thumb), then marked out the letters with a sharpie and stamped them with some metal embossing letters.  He's a keen gardener and loves a homemade present so these went down very well indeed.  I always find the boys in our family really hard to get for...

We spent Christmas Day evening at my brothers house in the lakes, it's absolutely gorgeous with loads of period features, I dream to have something similar one day.. Every reception room has ceiling roses with gorgeous lighting.

Jewels and Gems

A while back we featured the lovely Miss Ladysmith with her sparkily charms.
Here's a pick of my favourite pieces from her latest limited edition collection, features include delicious Gemstone beads and vintage lockets,  for those early birdies these would make great Christmas gifts.

Christmas tree oh Christmas tree...

When I came to my parents house at the start of the week I stumbled across the Christmas tree my family had put up, the smell is wonderful, you just can't beat a real tree.  I think they have done a cracking job! xKx

Snow in Cumbria

Wonderful and exciting amounts of snow has fallen over the last couple of days, so much so that the cars have stayed firmly in the drive and wellies have been worn to make a couple of trips to the shop.  My sister Zoe has taken some wonderful wintery photographs. Enjoy!

Mulled wine and chestnuts

Mulled wine and chestnuts are perfect for these cold wintery nights. Not to everyone's taste but I love them!

My friend Caroline came round for dinner a couple of weeks ago and I made us these.  I bought a bottle of mulled wine from the shop and added a cinnamon stick, nutmeg and some satsuma pieces to the pan as I warmed it through.
I used a paring knife to cut cross shapes on the chestnuts (as you would with sprouts on the big day), this helps them cook and made it easy to peel when they cooled a little.  I just placed them on a baking tray at about 180 degrees until the shells curled and browned.  I've never added anything to them flavour wise but suggestions are very welcome!

festive cheer

Sending Festive love to all of you! Finally done my christmas shopping and completed some crafty gifts which I will post up here soon.

Now I have finally moved and done my shopping I am feeling super festive and cannot wait to spend my xmas in the Lake District, with snowy peaks and beautiful scenary.

My family all live up there and my brother has asked myself and my baby sis to work for him on Christmas Eve in fancy dress. Zoe is planning on dressing 80's rock star style and I am thinking either vintage clown or a hippy. One of my fave things is makeup, after Halloween I really enjoyed doing it, so I am thinking what ever I decide to do it'll involve some nice face adornment
